Ocean Floor - Bobbie Whittaker

Bobbie is based in Birmingham, UK. After leaving a career in Environmental Consultancy, she is now a practicing artist with her work being collected internationally.

Bobbie's work is process based and often begins with a feeling or emotion and develops based on her initial mark making. She uses bold colours straight from the tube which she selects in response to a dominant emotion. She often uses natural forms as inspiration for her colours and layering technique, which she completes in oil paint. She likens her unique layering technique to a natural formation process.

This artwork serves as a portal to the ocean’s depths, a realm where the unknown reigns. Bobbie’s signature technique infuses the canvas with texture and colour, crafting intricate details and patterns that echo the sea’s hidden secrets.

The surface of the piece ripples, reflecting the ceaseless motion of marine life. The deliberate contrast of shadows and light evokes the beauty in the abyss and the fleeting glimmer of light, streaks of gold sunbeams piercing the water’s surface, a subtle nod to the world above.
