Big Blue II- Bobbie Whittaker

Bobbie is based in Birmingham, UK. After leaving a career in Environmental Consultancy, she is now a practicing artist with her work being collected internationally.

Bobbie's work is process based and often begins with a feeling or emotion and develops based on her initial mark making. She uses bold colours straight from the tube which she selects in response to a dominant emotion. She often uses natural forms as inspiration for her colours and layering technique, which she completes in oil paint. She likens her unique layering technique to a natural formation process.

The artwork’s palette is a dance of contrasts where the depth of the ocean blues melds with the lustrous shine of metallics. It is inspired by the moments when nature performs its magic, and the sun’s golden rays pierce through the azure skies.
