Ollie Ireson is a self-taught pencil artist from Birmingham whose surreal, detail-driven drawings reimagine the city’s derelict spaces and urban decay. Inspired by M.C. Escher, René Magritte, and the overlooked corners of his hometown, Ollie’s work invites viewers to see beauty in the forgotten and logic in the illogical.
The front section draws inspiration from a real location, the corner of one of Digbeth’s numerous railway arches. Ollie retained some of the original graffiti while adding his own artistic details. Apart from the square wooden door on the right all remaining elements are essentially an elaborate, surreal doodle, with imagined buildings stacked and cascading over one another.
