Set Adrift - Iain Perry
Iain is an artist and screenprinter creating deeply layered, colour saturated, slow motion screen prints The image generation is a slow process of experimentation, where Iain uses a mix of digital and traditional techniques to create his artworks. They often feature realistic portraits, abstract shapes, and dynamic compositions.
Iain's work borrows language from other art forms, film and photography, poetry, electronic music and rave culture. Layers of fragmented iconography and geometry coalesce, like motes of dust trapped in a beam of light teasing us with a cheeky glimpse of a much bigger gestalt.
The resulting collection is a series of paeans to pigment, a psychedelic hallelujah to the handmade and handprinted, colour and tone poems that are a tiny bit joyful.
Set Adrift
This artwork is from a body of original silkscreens that have been slowly evolving over the past 18 months through improvisation and the stencils themselves, suggesting new relationships between shapes and colours.
For Iain, this piece has a dreamy vibe, a piece to drift into, hazy layers to get lost in - a print to fantasise to. There is a certain beauty in chaos, magnificence in the uncontrollable, give in and get lost in it.
