Sleep Sparrow, also known as Sophie Chadwick, creates artwork inspired by psychedelia, modernist design and the supernatural.
AN EMERGING HEAVEN II
Sophie’s series ‘An Emerging Heaven’ features three stylized paintings born from a period of personal hardship, as she grappled with her Grandad’s decline due to dementia. Their profound bond transcends mere familial ties, influencing the idea of light versus dark, with her ingenious use of bold, block colour and black and white optical illusion. She says that ‘I could feel the pull of the universe trying to tear him away from me’, inspiring her to creates paths that lead nowhere - or maybe somewhere, maybe the end?
The series, a tribute to her Grandad Frank Lock (1934-2022), explores themes of connection and loss. This collection marks her debut of signed limited editions at Seventh Circle, with 10% of sales benefiting Dementia UK.
