MIRRORBALLS AND MIXTAPES
Music as healing
Music as connection
Music as expressions of hope and joy
Music as nourishment of the soul.
Music is more than sound, it’s a force. It heals, connects, uplifts, and nourishes the soul. It’s a universal language that transcends time and space, weaving its way into our memories, emotions, and creative expressions.
Printmaker Iain Perry understands this deeply. His latest body of work, Mirrorballs & Mixtapes, is an ongoing exploration of mood, colour, patterns, and repetition, all inspired by music.
For years, the acts of collecting, listening, dancing, and compiling mixtapes have intertwined with Iain’s printmaking practice, shaping his artistic vision. His work aims to visualise and capture the sounds and emotions experienced during listening, translating rhythm into form, melody into movement, and harmony into colour.
Beyond the music itself, Mirrorballs & Mixtapes draws inspiration from the packaging, ephemera, and cultural artifacts that surround this vast, ever-growing, pulsating collective endeavour. From the hypnotic glow of a spinning disco ball to the tactile nostalgia of a carefully curated mixtape, Iain’s work celebrates the rituals and aesthetics of music, both seen and felt.
Each piece is a reflection of the joy, energy, and emotional resonance that music brings into our lives. Whether it’s the euphoric rush of a dance floor anthem or the quiet intimacy of a mixtape made for someone special, Mirrorball’s & Mixtapes reminds us that music is not just something we hear—it’s something we experience, something we live.
