BILL SANKEY

Bill is a fifty-two year old artist and illustrator, who explores the fragmentation of identity and social relations in the gay community, their quest for meaning through ecstatic rituals, especially within the context of current hyperrealities.

He investigates how abstract and semi-abstract forms are perceived and interpreted. He uses decorative patterns, silhouettes, psychedelia and his own personal pictographic language to connect to archetypal experiences.

Bill works with various media, such as paintings, collage, screenprints and digital artwork. He often combines and integrates these media. He paints on paper so that he can collage painted images and textures and merge them into his digital work to give it more tactility and warmth.
